THE ART OF PERSPECTIVE IN RENAISSANCE ITALY

Open

About the Lecture

The development of perspective in Renaissance Italy changed the way we see the world. This aspect of one of the greatest ever periods in art history is often glossed over because it is seen to be ‘too technical’. However not only does perspective epitomise ‘what the Renaissance is all about’; it is also much more accessible than it first appears. Indeed it tells a fascinating story, reflected clearly, in all its stages of development, in some of the most beautiful works of art from the period.
